Hold time
Hold time is how long a trade stays open, from the fill that opens it to the fill that closes it. Sorted by hold time, your results usually say something you did not expect.

It is a plain number, minutes or days, and it already sits in your broker data. The useful step is grouping. Put every trade into buckets, say under five minutes, five to thirty, thirty to sixty, over an hour, and read the profit in each. Usually one bucket carries the account and another drains it.
The comparison that matters is winners against losers. If your average winner lasts nine minutes and your average loser lasts fifty, you are cutting the good ones and sitting with the bad ones. That pair of numbers describes the habit better than any story about the trade.
Why it matters
Holding losers longer than winners is the habit almost every struggling record shares, and it does not show up in the profit and loss alone. Your win rate can look fine while a handful of long losers outweigh a pile of short wins. Sorted by time, it stops looking like bad luck.
